Join Us for our first talk of 2026
Please join us for our first talk of 2026 when David Stubbings will take us on a journey through the history and Stories of river ferries along the River Cam
David presents an illustrated history of the ferries that traditionally provided transport across the river Cam, connected people and enabled trade over centuries of Cambridge’s history.
The modern river Cam is home to boats of many shapes and sizes, from punt boats to rowing boats to barges, house-boats and river cruisers. Although ferries have disappeared from the maritime landscape in Cambridge, traces of their legacy still survive on the banks of the river Cam.
David is Chairman of Chesterton Local History Group and volunteer at Cambridge Museum of Technology.
