From the summer of 1942 to the summer of 1945 Farm Hall was the home of a Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) operation. Three years of research allowed me to uncover its story, identifying those who ran it and some of the agents who passed through its doors, and more importantly what happened to them. Its 'war' finished when 10 German Nuclear Scientists being interned there from July 1945 to December 1945 had their every word secretly recorded.
Roger is a Godmanchester WW2 historian, author and speaker. He has uncovered new and exciting true stories that have proved popular not just locally, but across the UK and abroad. His first book 'Stirling To Essen' (2017) has sold well across the globe, it tells the story of a Short Stirling crew which crashed close to the town in April 1942, his second, 'Godmanchester At War' (2021) covered the towns complete wartime history, including Farm Hall.
'The Godmanchester Bugle' followed in 2022, telling the towns Great War story through the Hunts Post archives.
His latest book 'Greenwich Is Missing' is an untold story of one of Hitlers 'Special Prisoners of War', an epic espionage story which starts in pre Revolution Russia. An incredible story of survival against the odds, four years of solitary at the hands of the Third Reich, abduction, executions, bugging and eventually a job with the BBC.
